Summary
[edit]DescriptionSt Andrew's church - east window - geograph.org.uk - 861127.jpg |
English: St Andrew's church - east window. St Andrew's church > 861100 - 861112 - 861136 was almost completely rebuilt with brick in the 1740s; it has no separation between nave and chancel and is now dwarfed by its massive tower which remained original. When the church was rebuilt all brasses were removed from their original locations and are now being displayed on the south wall, by the doorway. The tower screen > 861140 is modern; the stained glass in the windows dates from the late 19th and early 20th centuries > 861124 - 861131 - apart from some C14 glass > 861133 which has been set into one of the chancel windows and depicts the arms of John Segrave (d. 1353). The war memorial > 861122 is located on the north wall, inside the church. The pulpit dates from the 19th century but some old C15 panels are incorporated. The Purbeck marble font bowl is C13, resting on a stem dating from the 14th century >861144. The church is open every day.
