Summary[edit]

Description
English: The overrun tunnel at St James station, the terminus of the Tyne and Wear Metro Yellow line. This shows how all the stations were originally constructed for trains of three two-car units, but economies imposed meant that the system operates trains of two two-car units only. The design of St James station also makes it clear that it was never intended to be a permanent terminal station, but the terrain west of the city centre apparently means the tunneling would be significantly more expensive.
