Summary[edit]

Description
English: St Mary's church. The Norman south door > 1400238 is the oldest feature of St Mary's church > 1400262 which is situated on an elevation above the village. The church was extensively restored in the late 19th century but the Audley altar tomb > 1400276 on the north side of the chancel has survived, albeit without the brasses which were affixed to it. In a 16th century manuscript it is being described to contain the remains of George Lord Audley. The octagonal C15 font > 1400309 still has its original cover, apparently unrestored because the colours are much faded. At the east end of the north aisle there is one of only four remaining sets of royal arms (in East Anglia) to Queen Elizabeth > 1400292 which once would have filled the upper part of the chancel arch. The church also contains a set of arms to Charles I > 1400320. The stained glass windows date from the 19th and 20th centuries, one is modern and depicts St Felix and St Walstan > 1400281. St Mary's is kept locked.
