Summary[edit]

Description
English: St Oswald's, Thornton in Lonsdale A grey day doesn't show St Oswald's off to its best. However, it is possible to see the difference between the ancient Norman tower, and the main body of the church, which was renovated in 1870, burnt down in 1933, and was subsequently rebuilt to the 1870 designs. Arthur Conan Doyle married Louisa Hawkins there in 1885.
