Summary[edit]

Description
English: Three Stagecoach in Hampshire buses pictured in Ryde bus station operating a rail replacement service for Island Line Trains on the Isle of Wight. Replacement buses were being run between the stations in Ryde at St John's Road and Esplanade over the weekend of 30/31 October 2010, to cover track renewal works at Esplanade (no services were run along Ryde Pier due to vehicle restrictions in place at the time).

The bus on the far left, 16303 (reg. S303 CCD), is wearing standard Stagecoach livery, while the pair on the right, 13620 (reg. NDZ 3020) (left) and 13652 (reg. H462 EJR) (right), are wearing the fleetnames and livery of Stagecoach sister company South West Trains, who operate the Island Line as a sub-brand.

16303 is a standard UK bus while the SWT pair are high capacity tri-axle 11m long air-conditioned coaches imported from Hong Kong. Both types have a shared heritage, being based on the same Olympian chassis (a 1998 Volvo versus 1991 Leylands) and Alexander R type bodywork (lowheight RL versus full height RH's). See extracted images for full vehicle histories.
