unty, Virginia. Annsville, a small village of Dinwiddle county, Virginia,about 75 miles N. W. by W. from Norfolk. Anthonys Creek, a post-office of Greenbrier county, Virginia. Appersons, a post-office of Charles City county, Virginia. Appomattox, a river in the S. E. part of Virginia, rises in Ap-pomattox county, and fl.owing in a general eastward directionforms the boundary between several counties on each side, passesby the city of Petersburg and enters the James river at CityPoint. It is a valuable stream for navigation, having a narrowand deep channel. Large vessels ascend to Petersburg, about20 miles from its mouth, and batteaus to Farmville, pcrliaps 100miles farther. The whole length is estimated at 150 miles. Thenavigation is good at all seasons for boats of 5 or 6 tons to Farm-ville. Appomattox, a county in the S.
