| Description |
English: Statue of Henry Fawcett, Market Place, Salisbury. The shops in the background are in Blue Boar Row which is the northern edge of the Market Place.
Fawcett was born in Salisbury in 1833 and died in 1884. He became a professor at Cambridge University, a Liberal MP and a prominent campaigner for women's suffrage. Hence the modern day Fawcett Society. See http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/PRfawcett.htm (I took his back view because he has a tree up his nose.) |
