Summary[edit]

Description
English: Statue of Rajah Rammohun Roy. He was born in Bengal in 1772. He was a scholar and reformer, campaigning against child marriage and suttee. He arrived in Britain in 1831 as the ambassador of the Mughal Emperor and died in Bristol in 1833. The statue marks the golden jubilee of India's independence in 1997. Sculpted by Mr Niranjan Pradhan.

The statue stands between the library, cathedral and council building, with College Green in the background of this photograph, looking north-east.

His tomb is in Arno's Vale Cemetery: 379956.
