Summary
[edit]DescriptionSteam tug Portwey - boiler - geograph.org.uk - 2210713.jpg |
English: Steam tug Portwey - boiler, near to Poplar, Tower Hamlets, Great Britain.
This is the twin furnace, coal fired Scotch marine boiler built in 1927 by D & W Henderson of Partick. it is 10' 9" diameter by 10' 1" long with 35 sq ft of grate and pressed to 140 psi. When seen it was having new uptakes fabricated which is why the fire tubes are visible. The white chalk marks almost certainly indicate tubes requiring attention/replacement. |
