Summary
[edit]DescriptionStep up to the big train^ - geograph.org.uk - 936360.jpg |
English: Step up to the big train! Most of the photos submitted for this square show the narrow-gauge railway. This is one of the (then) British Rail station, with a Carlisle to Barrow train approaching. The platform, like several other former LNWR country stations, was lower than standard height, so steps are needed to get up into the train. Compare this shot with 455376 taken 19 years later - the telegraph pole has now gone and there are additional lighting columns for the far end of the platform. |
