In der Reihe «Die Krise hat Europa gestärkt»

Die Europäische Zentralbank (EZB) gilt als Retterin des Euro. Sie beendete Mitte 2012 im Alleingang die Euro-Krise und sorgte für Ruhe an den Finanzmärkten. Gleichzeitig wird die EZB heftig kritisiert, vor allem in Deutschland. Gegen ihre Politik wurde sogar vor dem Bundesverfassungsgericht geklagt. Für die Blockupy-Bewegung wiederum ist die EZB das Symbol einer europäischen Unterdrückungs- und Verarmungspolitik. Was tut die Zentralbank eigentlich, wenn sie «Geldpolitik» betreibt? Was ist ihre Aufgabe, woher kommt ihre Macht? Und wie unterscheidet sie sich von anderen Zentralbanken?
