Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Stone Carr, Wawne, East Riding of Yorkshire, England.
Looking southeast towards Carr House on the public footpath between Wawne and Tickton. The "carr" is a name often used in East Yorkshire and traditionally meant rough pasture on reclaimed marshland which was only suitable for grazing when the water level was low. These days the land is farmed all year round, sometimes for cattle grazing but mainly for growing cereal crops. Wawne is an old Anglian name which is thought to mean a quagmire.
