Description
English: Mauritius Maj. Vikraj Mangroo, deputy assistant super attendant of police (left); U.S. Navy Capt. James Tranoris, commander, Africa Partnership Station East (middle); and Kenyian Navy Capt. Philip Mulumba lookout at the Egyptian countryside aboard the high speed vessel Swift (HSV 2) while the ship transits the Suez Canal in Egypt Jan. 2. Swift, along with USS Nicholas (FFG 47), are on regular scheduled deployments within the U.S. 6th Fleet area of responsibility in support of APS and will deploy to East Africa visiting ports in Djibouti, Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Reunion, Mauritius, Seychelles and Comoros. APS, originally a U.S. Navy initiative, is now an international effort aimed at improving maritime safety and security for the continent of Africa through training and other collaborative activities with African partner countries.
