Description

Sitting on a bench, in the middle of Bruges encircled town centre, I saw this ghostly, devil-like young man appear into view. Staring across the square, he made a gesture to this girl who was stood on the opposite side to him, and she began to make her way across. Standing motionless in front of me, he waited patiently for her as she moved closer, the smile evident on her face as she came into focus. Pulling my camera from my bag, I sat there patiently as the two came closer, he muttering something I couldn't understand across at her. The smile never left her face and as her pace quickened, her smile grew bigger. I could see as she got within 20 yards that she was going to collapse into his arms, she had the look of a love struck teenager, intoxicated by this devil-esque creature drawing her closer. He moved forward towards her and she fell into him, his arms wrapping themselves around her tightly as her head dropped to his chest. It was then that I noticed that her smile had turned to sadness and she began to cry, probably through relief that she was with him. Zooming in, I captured this shot before the moment was lost.
