Ybl Miklós tér in 1945 after the siege of Budapest

| Description |
English: The southern side of Ybl Miklós tér in 1945 with a horse-cart loaded with firewood. The buildings are all ruined: Lyka House at 7 Ybl Miklós tér (on the left) was soon demolished but the birthplace of Ignác Semmelweis (1-3 Apród utca, in the middle) was restored in the 1962-64 in spite of being even more damaged. The adjacent building, 5 Apród utca and the large block of flats behind it, 20 Váralja utca were demolished.
Magyar: Az Ybl Miklós tér déli oldala 1945-ben egy tűzifával megrakott lovaskocsival. Az épületek mind romosak: a Lyka-házat (Ybl Miklós tér 7, balra) hamarosan lebontották, de Semmelweis Ignác szülőházát (Apród utca 1-3, középen) 1962-64-ben helyreállították, bár még súlyosabb károkat szenvedett. A szomszédos Apród utca 5. számú nagy bérház és mögötte a Váralja utca 20. szintén romos, mindkettőt lebontották. |
