Français : A partir de 1949, un nombre important de cachets postaux portent un "pont" où la date est inscrite à la main et à l'encre. Cela n'a pas toujours été fait. De plus pour économiser l'encre, l'année n'est que rarement indiquée. Pour la même raison, lorsqu'il y a plusieurs cachets à pont sur l'enveloppe la date n'est généralement indiquée qu'une seule fois.

La pénurie de papier a conduit à réutiliser les enveloppes jusqu'à l'extrême; il en reste donc très peu en bon état.

De même, à partir de 1948, les timbres restants ont été utilisés pour des valeurs très supérieures à leur valeur faciale (décuple voire centuple). Par conséquent, la présence de tel timbre de telle valeur faciale ne peut conduire, à elle seule, à la datation du pli.
