English: Spc. Amanda Patton, Texas Medical Command, Texas Army National Guard, performs a physical examination on a patient during Operation Lone Star in Rio Grande City, Texas, Aug. 5, 2014. Operation Lone Star is an emergency preparedness exercise conducted by the Texas Department of State Health Services, the Texas Military Forces, local and state organizations and volunteers to help them prepare for natural and man-made disasters. The operation also provides basic physical health assessments, routine vaccinations, vision screenings, and other services to area residents throughout the Rio Grande Valley.
