Notes: Purchase; Carol M. Highsmith Photography, Inc.; 2015; (DLC/PP-2015:055).; Credit line: West Virginia Collection within the Carol M. Highsmith Archive, Library of Congress, Prints and Photographs Division.; It was created by the Tiffany Studio of New York. The Loring name relates to three Loring family ancestors, to whom it was dedicated by its donor, Lucy Loring Milton. Each window in the church symbolizes a biblical event. This one depicts Simeon, a man of Jerusalem, holding the baby Jesus, who had been presented to him by his mother, Mary, and her husband, Joseph. As an interesting historical footnote, when the window was installed in 1900, its colors were not acceptable to Mrs. Milton, and it was replaced with this version a year later.; Title, date and keywords based on information provided by the photographer.; Forms part of: West Virginia Collection within the Carol M.
