Image title | The "stock-farm house" at the George Ranch Historical Park, a 20,000-acre working ranch in Fort Bend County, Texas, featuring historic homes, costumed interpreters and livestock. A stock farm is the working ranch of a cattle breeder and rancher. The ranch is a living-history partnership of the Fort Bend County Museum Association and The George Foundation that preserves and interprets the four-generation story line of a Texas family, beginning in 1824 and spanning more than 100 years. The stock-farm house dates to the 1830s, was one of the earliest structures in what was then part of northeast Mexico. This structure is also a "dogtrot house," essentially two cabins connected by a breezeway or "dogtrot." |
