Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The 'Watery Grave' The 'Watery Grave' is unique and is in the graveyard of St Michael's, Kirkby Malham. The story of the grave is that a Colonel John Harrison and his wife Helen were so often separated by water during his army career that she determined they would be separated by water in death. When Helen died the grave was built over a small stream that ran through the graveyard and she was buried on one side. However, when John Harrison died the gravedigger discovered impenetrable rock so the colonel had to be buried with his wife after all.
