It is much to be re-gretted that the two best monographs on the subject, Nos. 27and 70 of the Photo Miniature, have long been out of printand are hardly procurable at the present time. From the standpoint of architectural photography, or theportraiture of buildings, the most important quality of theneedlehole image is its geometrical accuracy. Provided thatthe camera is set level, be the angle of view wide or narrow theperspective will be absolutely true. As a rule in architecturalwork one must use a wide angle lens quite frequently, and inthat case more or less exaggeration of perspective is inevitable. With the needlehole, be the field of view ever so wide, ifthe camera is properly placed the lines will fall in just as theyought.
