The surrounding decora-tions are, however, of the Egyptian variety of the Thirdstyle. The picture is 34c high by 39c^ wide, outsidewhich, left and right, is a white border on which are* I^gyP^^ia^i •^yle marks ; beyond which again is another TAMILY rOllTKAITS AT POMPEI. 15 ))road border of green. The background is blue, and onit are two ligures,nude to the waist. The figure on theleft in the picture holds over his shoulder a thyrsus in hisleft hand; from the upper end depends a ribbon; in hisright hand he holds up in front of the young woman adrinking horn.
