The library is thelargest room in the building, and is a gem in itself. It is two -tone- high,60 by 97 feet, and void of columns to obstruct valuable space and light.The ceiling is done in ornamental plaster, with panels and Corinthianpilasters in staff and stucco. There are accommodations for 40.000 vol-ume--, the equipment including 22 double steel -tacks, each one 14 feetlong, and 44 reading table-Special attention has been given to the lighting features of the building,the light invariably falling over the left shoulder. The building is fullyequipped with gas and electric lighting facilities for use on dark daysnight.
