Description |
English: The Battle of the Glorious First of June, 1794; ' Lord Howe to windward of the French Line on the same tack' Although Pocock was present at the Battle of 1 June 1794 in the repeating frigate 'Pegasus', this drawing lacks the haste of those apparently made on-the-spot as well as being in a different medium than the mixture of colour wash, pencil and pen generally used there. Therefore it is probably a later study showing Howe's 'Queen Charlotte' engaging the stern of the French line. |
