on the Senior table,and as I always do my bestto stimulate wit, vivacity,and good cheer, my nour-ishment suffers. Capable asI am of holding my ownon an ordinary table, theSeniors are almost toomuch for me. I have been very suc-cessful in a political wayat Rice, and in the abo-lition of social clubs.Originating the ToilersSociety, I was so unfor-tunate as to enlist agroup of narrow minded ..men, unable to truly ap- llpreciate me; and after I!I had thoroughly ar-ranged their business,they were so ungratefulas to exclude me fromthe management of theclub. Probably everyother club in the schoolhas asked me to becomea member; but I believein social equality, andI will not be won over.One final note ofwarning to young men:Never let modesty tri-umph over you. This hasbeen my only drawback.Had I been less chary ofsounding my own horn,I feel sure that my ad-vancement would havebeen even greater. Thistrait I have now masteredand have brought it intosubjection to my powerfulwill to serve my ends.
