Description
English: The Cause to Which in this War the Nation Has Dedicated Itself Must Demand Manifold Sacrifice

whole: the title is positioned in the upper fifth, in red, with a decorated initial letter. The text is placed in the lower three-quarters, in black and in red. All set against a white background and held within a narrow red border. image: text only. text: THE CAUSE TO WHICH IN THIS WAR THE NATION HAS... DEDICATED ITSELF MUST DEMAND MANIFOLD SACRIFICE SOME will make the greatest sacrifice of all in giving their lives. But there are lesser sacrifices which all are called upon to make. One of them is to be ready and willing to provide the money without which the high purposes which the nation has set before itself cannot be achieved. MANY personal desires which in time of peace would not be regarded as selfish must be so regarded in time of war. More urgently than ever before in our history we are called upon to place a higher value upon the achievement of the country's cause than upon such personal desires. THE OBJECT of the appeal which the National Savings Movement, already so familiar to all, is making throughout the land at the request of the Government is to invite all classes in the community to save their money and to lend their savings to the State for the advancement of the common cause. WE WHO SIGN this letter cordially commend the appeal. Believing as we do that great moral and spiritual principles are involved in the struggle which has been forced upon our country and its allies, we trust that our fellow citizens will in this way take their part in strengthening the economic and financial resources of the country on which the victory of these principles so largely depends. This tag is designed for use where there may be a need to assert that any enhancements (eg brightness, contrast, colour-matching, sharpening) are in themselves insufficiently creative to generate a new copyright. It can be used where it is unknown whether any enhancements have been made, as well as when the enhancements are clear but insufficient. For known raw unenhanced scans you can use an appropriate {{PD-old}} tag instead. For usage, see Commons:When to use the PD-scan tag.

Note: This tag applies to scans and photocopies only. For photographs of public domain originals taken from afar, {{PD-Art}} may be applicable. See Commons:When to use the PD-Art tag.
