Description
English: The Chalk Pit, Priory Hill, Dover Thousands of tons of chalk were removed from this area to the north of England to be used as flux in the manufacture of glass. The trade ceased when glass production moved to the continent. The terraced houses of Winchelsea Rd. and winchelsea St. were later built in 1865-66.
