A former Chantry house, it was endowed by a native of Trent, John Franks, who was Master of the Rolls (d.1437). Its purpose was as a chapel, endowed with sufficient funds to maintain a priest to conduct masses for the donor's soul. The building is now a private house, and is Grade I Listed.
