Summary
[edit]DescriptionThe Cherry Tree, Pennycross - Plymouth - geograph.org.uk - 1274656.jpg |
English: The Cherry Tree, Pennycross - Plymouth A long established hostelry that was a focal point during the '50's and 60's when speedway and greyhound racing and occasional wrestling matches were held in the stadium that once stood where there is now an industrial estate. The Cherry Tree was a 'landmark' pub - a place where buses stopped when everyone used buses and one asked for 'The Cherry Tree' or 'The Harvest Home', the latter long gone as the city grew and, some say, 'developed'.
Once upon a time it also proudly boasted that it sold Gold medal winning Plymouth Brewery Beers - as long gone as The Harvest Home! |
