Ethereal Oils.The oils of peppermint, wintergreen, and eucalyptus gave at onceresults so little encouraging (Fig. 6) that but few experiments weremade. I shall, however, make further tests with them. Oil of clovesappeared somewhat better. The best results, however, were obtainedwith oil of cinnamon. This oil permeates and stiffens the tissue withtolerable rapidity, tinging it various shades of yellow to brown. Pulpstreated with it, placed upon the nutritive plates, proved to be sterile ina large measure (Figs. 6, 7, and 8). I am at present in doubt whetherto place the oil of cinnamon on a level with trichlorphenol and carbolicacid ; further experiments will be necessary to settle this question.
