| Description |
English: The House of Adam of Jesmond: The remains of the house of Adam of Jesmond can be found in Heaton Park. Built in the 13th century, the house belonged to the deeply unpopular landowner and Sheriff of Newcastle, Adam de Gesmuth, more commonly known as Adam of Jesmond. When he died during one of the Crusades, the house was left to fall into disrepair. The building is locally known as King John's Palace, as it is believed that King John of England once stayed here. There is no proof that this ever happened. |
