Description |
English: The Iraq Medal (2003) The Iraq Medal was authorised by DCI JOINT 34/04 and approved by HM The Queen in recognition of campaign service related to operations in, and in support of, Iraq. The opening qualification date being 20 January 2003. The Iraq Medal has the same status as other campaign medals, the GSM 1962 and the Operational Service Medal and is worn alongside them, in order of the date on which conferred. Qualifying service is service on, or in support of, Operation TELIC within the Joint Operational Area. The medal is to be awarded with or without a clasp. Where the clasp is awarded this is indicated by a silver rosette on the ribbon when the ribbon is worn alone. Apart from members of HM Forces other qualifying groups include some civilians including MOD accredited war correspondents, photographers, cameramen and sound recordists; members of civilian organisations who served directly with the Armed Forces in support Of Operation TELIC and some Foreign and Commonwealth personnel serving with, or alongside, UK Armed Forces committed to Operation TELIC. The usual rules apply concerning qualification if cut short by death, wounding or other disability. The grant of a British Honour, Decoration or Medal of the status of a Mention-in-Despatches or a Queen's Commendation or above, for services on operations during the qualifying period, will also qualify the recipient for the Iraq Medal. |

[edit]This image is in the public domain because it is a mere mechanical scan or photocopy of a public domain original, or – from the available evidence – is so similar to such a scan or photocopy that no copyright protection can be expected to arise. The original itself is in the public domain for the following reason:
This tag is designed for use where there may be a need to assert that any enhancements (eg brightness, contrast, colour-matching, sharpening) are in themselves insufficiently creative to generate a new copyright. It can be used where it is unknown whether any enhancements have been made, as well as when the enhancements are clear but insufficient. For known raw unenhanced scans you can use an appropriate {{PD-old}} tag instead. For usage, see Commons:When to use the PD-scan tag. Note: This tag applies to scans and photocopies only. For photographs of public domain originals taken from afar, {{PD-Art}} may be applicable. See Commons:When to use the PD-Art tag. |
