ot only the customary featuresbut also the Congress Oration, hithertogiven at the open session attended bythe general public, including the ladies.Since there was no general public toattend, no open session was provided,and the oration was made a principalfeature of the first session. That de-prived the thirty or more Alpha Tauwives of a chance to hear Brother Mossgive a stirring oration. The other outstanding features ofthis session were the report of WorthyGrand Chief Fithian, the presentationof the Thomas Arkle Clark Scholarshipaward to John Farley, and Brother Far-leys response, a talk on Extra Cur-ricular Activities. The Worthy Grand Chief in his ad-dress reported that he had during thebiennium visited 51 chapters, attend-ed three conclaves and 22 alumni din-ners. Such direct contact with thechapters, the alumni, and the educationalauthorities, has helped to make clearnot only local conditions but the generaltrend of thought concerning fraternities. 236 THE PAL^I, September, 1937
