The state of Minnesota, famed alikefor its Scandinavian-American citizensand its football teams, holds many at-tractions for the visitor. One of the firstsettlers in that north country was a cer-tain Pierre (Pigs Eye) Parrant, an old-time real estate man who settled inMinnesota during the early days of thelast century. A settlement grew uparound his cabin and bore his name, un-til a strong-minded priest, who objectedto the designation Pigs Eye for asettlement which contained a number ofearnest citizens, came along in 1841 andre-christened the place St. Paul. Thusdid the capital of the state get its start.
