The journeythither is made through a chain of very charming islands, con-spicuous among which are the Palm Islands. Ingham andHalifax, two important sugar-growing centres on the HerbertEiver, are connected with the port by a regular steam tramwayservice. Large numbers of waterfalls and other beauty spots inthe district. Hinchinbrook Island Cascade Falls are within closeproximity to the port. Wallaman Falls, with a drop of 936 ft.,are 48 miles by road from Ingham. Kangaroo Hills, a splendidhealth resort and rising mining district, is about 40 miles byroad from Ingham.
