Two auto-trans-formers are used on the locomotives, and an automatic over-load and no-voltage circuit breaker is placed between the ELECTRIC LOCOMOTIVES USING PANTAGRAPH TROLLEY ON HIGH-TENSION,ALTERNATING-CURRENT CIRCUIT commutating switch is automatically shifted to the alter-nating-current position and the small transformer furnishingcurrent to the control system is cut into circuit, leaving thelocomotives ready to start. The unit switches are essentially similarto those used on direct-current systems.The control magnets are of the alternating-current type wound for 200 volts, andoperate on about 80 volts direct current,but in both cases will operate down toabout one-half voltage. These magnetsserve to admit air under heavy pressureto the cylinders
