At each feed spanis placed a General Electric type M. D. lightning arrester,which is grounded through a No. o bare copper wire. Nearthe ground this wire is protected by a ^-in. galvanizediron pipe 10 ft. long, and which has 2 ft. of the lower endburied in the ground. To prevent the pipe exercising achoking effect, it is made a part of the conductor by beingsoldered effectively to the wire at each end.
