John Wood,of the Goshen company of Col. Tustens reg-iment, left behind him a journal of the eventsfollowing the battle, and his journey while acaptive with Capt. Brant, as he terms him,and those under him, to the Indian country,which disposes of the question to the contrary.And this journal well sustains Brants officialreport of the Minisink raid and battle, in whichhe says, we in no wise injured women orchildren. It is the desire of the author of this mono-graph to refrain from any discussion of theMinisink battle, as that properly belongs to awork now in course of preparation for thepublisher. Yet it may be remarked that, since Goshensfirst commemoration of that event, which wasthe subject of an article in the Souvenir of 1898,much has boon brought out which reveals atale of the cowardice and flight of a portion
