The parlor is in FrenchColonial style, trimmed In white and gold, the furniture being allmahogany. The dining-room Is Romanesque, also furnished inmahogany. The walls are exquisitely decorated and frescoed, the MANUFACTURES. IIS floors covered with fine carpets and rugs, while portieres and cur-tains drape windows and doors. It has the appearance of a perfectly furnishedresidence in every detail, which has been temporarily vacated bythe owners in order to visit the Worlds Fair. To the extreme left,in front of the building, is a great mirror, upon which is inscribedin letters of silver the names of all the Rockford furniture compa-nies. This is the only place on the lower floor where the name of ii6 MANUFACTURES. an individual concern appears. None of the different pieces offurniture are marked, the idea being to bury personal identity andadvertise Rockford as a whole.
