Fig. 427 shows a remarkably fine specimen, stained all over of a deepochrjous red, though sightly mottled, owing to the original structure of theflint from which it was chipped. The angles are to a small extent water-worn. On what is in the figure the left side of the base, a portion of theoriginal crust of the flint has been left, so as to form a protuberance atthat part, instead of the edge being continued all round the instrument.This protuberance is well adapted to fit into the hand, like that of the Picts

It isstained all over of a deep ochreous colour, and its angles are still sharp.
