ove. Its face is attrac-tive and the architectural workmanship is also ofa high order. But it is a matter of great regretthat both its hands are broken. Onlj^ the upperpart of the left arm and a lotus with its stem areintact. A figure of Amitabha on the crown ofthis image shows that it is a figure of PadmapaniBodhisattva. Below the image is the figure ofa devotee, and also some objects of worship.(Fig. 43). At Ayodhyain the Xilgiri States a four-armedimage of Loke9vara has been discovered. Thismeasures 18 by 10 and has been kept in a smallroom in front of the temple of Marichi. Of thefour arms only the right lower one, which is heldin the posture of gi-anting a boon, is intact. Thefirst half of the right upper hand is un-broken and wears an ornament. The other twoarms are completely gone.
