The Manx Cat differs from the ordinary catonly in Ijeing tailless, or nearly so, the mostchoice families not having any tail at all. Ifthey have a short rudimentary tail it shouldbe boneless; but sometimes they have short, thin, twisted tails, or tails in the shape of aknob. Tlie ears are medium-sized,rounded at the apex, and hairless within. TheManx Cat varies in color, ranning to Tabbiesand all the mixed colors. A white Manx Cat

CHAPTER lY. CAEE OF THE CAT. THE care of the cat is of very much moreimportance iu the close surrouudings ofcity life than it is in the country, where theanimal has as much freedom as the barefooted,half-dressed l)oy who can be trusted to run thefarm over, and is supposed to be safe whetherrooting in the garden of vegetables, sunflowers, and hollyhocks, playing in the calf-pen, or in-vestigating the pou
