[edit]DescriptionThe church of SS Andrew and Peter - baptismal font detail - geograph.org.uk - 844374.jpg |
English: The church of SS Andrew & Peter - baptismal font detail Panel depicting the Flight into Egypt.
St Andrew's church > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/844349 is the largest in the area and it has one of the tallest towers in Norfolk; built during the 15th century on the site of an older Norman church it was extensively restored during the 19th century > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/844353 - the box pews and the five-light east window date from that time, the windows contain 19th and 20th century glass. There are a few C16 bench ends > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/844363 - https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/844370 and a restored rood screen, the panels of which depict twelve saints > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/844361. The C15 octagonal font is unusual in that its panels are carved with scenes from the life of Christ > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/844372. On the walls several consecration crosses have survived > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/844376. For more information see: http://www.norfolkchurches.co.uk/blofield/blofield.htm |
