Summary
[edit]DescriptionThe church of SS Peter and Paul in Brockdish - geograph.org.uk - 1768049.jpg |
English: The church of SS Peter and Paul in Brockdish. The church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul > 1768049 - situated on an elevation above the Waveney Valley - was built on a much older site of worship with the main structure of the building as we see it today dating from the 14th century. Francis Blomefield, author of 'History of Norfolk', was rector here between 1739 and 1742. The church was extensively restored in Victorian times and furnishings and stained glass date from this time. The reredos made was made by Gearge France of Merton tiles > 1768057 and the modern baptismal font > 1768053 has a carved oak cover of Swiss design. The rood screen panels > 1768055 are original but were restored, repainted in the original colours and gilded in 1864. |
