Summary[edit]

Description
English: The course of the Denton Branch The Great Northern Railway Denton Branch (1883-1974) was built to serve the ironstone quarries in the Belvoir area. Its course - here a National Cycle Route - is shown by the line of mature trees which runs parallel to the Grantham Canal. The line eventually curved east of Muston to join the Nottingham-Grantham line at Belvoir Junction (SK833383). From there the ore went to Stanton Ironworks near Ilkeston. See other photos nearby for more on the Denton Branch and the ironstone railways in the Belvoir area, and Kate Jewell's shot of the trackbed between the trees.
