Description
English: Title: The hero of Lucknow, presented to the "Albion" subscribers, New York, 1859

Abstract: Print shows Sir Henry Havelock, full-length portrait, sitting, facing right, wearing dress uniform and holding a quill pen at a desk in a tent in Lucknow, India, during the Indian Mutiny of 1857. Havelock defended the British position, but died of dysentery before completing the battle at Lucknow. The British re-took Lucknow from the Indians in 1858. Physical description: 1 print : stipple engraving.

Notes: Entered according to act of Congress in the year 1859 by Wm. Young & Co. in the Clerks office of the District Court of the United States for the Southern District of New York.; Includes engraved facsimile signature on lower right: H. Havelock.; drawn and engraved by A.H. Ritchie.; Inscribed in pencil on lower center: Sir Henry Havelock.; Title from item.
