I pro-test only against the pretended pleasure of adventuringthrough hyperborean cold in pursuit of elks; and I defyNimrod himself to prove to me that it is a royal sport,—at least, unless he can succeed in demonstrating at thesame time that the ignoble Kedskins of Loretto are theworthy descendants of the Indian heroes who figure inCoopers brilliant pages, of the XJncas and the Chingach-Kooks.
