State, relative to trade, commerce,manufactures; to note the cardinal causes which have combined to pro-duce these results, and to call attention to present conditions and futureprobabilities. Except in the selection of the historical data, and thecommercial, manufacturing, and financial statistics which it contains, butlittle originality is claimed for the book, space having permitted theauthor to treat only of the salient features of the situation.
