The larva of this Moth, like others of the geometry, raifes itfelf,when walking, into the form of an arch or loop : it is of an ob-fcure grey and brown colour, laintly mottled: the head is red.This larva is feldom taken, and when taken, is reared to the fly#ate with the utmofl difficulty. It feems a local fpecies; for we have 8 PLATE CCXIX. have never heard that it has been found, except on the Oak trees *in Richmond Park, It feeds on the higheft branches of the trees,but defcends into the earth to become a pupa. It appears in thefly ftate in March. The male In feci is confiderably fmaller than the female. Itshorns, or antennas, are alfo larger, and more feathered. This is afcarce Infect. It is found in Germany ; and a variety of it hasbeen received from North America. It feeds alfo on Lime tree*. PLATE :/
