English: The northernmost stone quarries at the Breakwater Country Park These quarries provided a total of 7,000,000 million tonnes of stone for building the core of the Holyhead Breakwater - limestone from the Moelfre area was used for the outer walls. After the breakwater was completed in 1875, the quarry site became a brickworks. |
